The work we are not enemies to African Cultures: Challenges of Totems & Taboos to Contemporary Christians in Ebonyi State, studied the conflicts between church and cultural expressions. The work adopted a purely phenomenological approach. Findings show that the Christian task of inculturation (bringing Christ into new cultures) in the different communities in Ebonyi State ought to strive at recovering Christianity and African Traditional Religion core values (i.e., respect and dignity of the human person) of their cultural institutions which are guarded by the use of totems and taboos as a sine qua non for mutual religious co-operations.
